GWI (GlobalWebIndex), a leading audience targeting company for the global marketing industry, has identified ‘livestreaming commerce’ as a new battleground for retailers that may bring community and entertainment to online shopping. Already popular in China, it is being driven by the explosive growth of TikTok, the rise of influencers, and the need for brands to distinguish themselves.

Deloitte expects online sales to continue to grow at above market rates for the foreseeable future, driven by consumer demand and retailer investments. This follows a consolidation in the shift to digital following robust online sales, even after the opening of non-essential retail.

78% of buyers prefer digital self-service and education when making a first time purchase and they value technology providers as strategic partners across the customer experience.

That is according to a keynote speech titled Accelerating Your Growth in a New Era of Transformation made at Gartner’s Tech Growth & Innovation Conference. Its recommendations for operations included: 

  • Finding new value scenarios.
  • Enabling customers through product innovation.
  • Delivering a fluid customer buying journey.

It identified the importance of a creating a seamless approach through digital capabilities, analytics, channels, content, and personalisation.

Technology, it said, is the catalyst to enable new experiences. It predicted unique combinations of technologies will trigger new disruptions and opportunities.
